How to Merge PDF Files
- Add PDF files โ drag and drop two or more PDF files into the upload area above.
- Reorder if needed โ drag files to change the merge order. The top file becomes the first pages of the merged PDF. You can also use the up/down arrows.
- Click "Merge PDFs" โ the files are combined in your browser using pdf-lib and the result downloads instantly as
tinyimg_merged.pdf.
Why Merge PDFs Locally?
PDF files often contain sensitive information โ contracts, financial statements, medical records, legal documents. Most online PDF merger tools require you to upload these files to their servers, creating a privacy risk.
TinyImg's PDF Merger uses pdf-lib to combine files entirely in your browser. Your documents never leave your device. This is especially important for professionals bound by confidentiality obligations: lawyers handling case files, accountants working with client tax documents, HR staff processing employee records, and healthcare workers managing patient information.
Since there's no server upload, merging is also faster โ no waiting for large files to transfer, no queue, no file size limits imposed by server constraints.
FAQ
Is there a file size limit?
The practical limit depends on your browser's available memory. Most devices can merge PDFs totaling 200โ500MB without issues. For very large files, merge in smaller batches.
Does merging reduce PDF quality?
No. pdf-lib copies pages directly without re-encoding. Text, images, and vector graphics in the source PDFs are preserved exactly as they were.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
You need to remove the password protection first. pdf-lib cannot load encrypted PDFs. Use the original application to unlock the PDF, then merge the unlocked version.
